Campus Ministry.  Who leads it?   What does it look like? When does it happen? Where does it take place? Why is it needed?  How is it possible?

Who leads it?

Campus ministry is student led.  Most of the time it is supported by local churches and para church organizations such as Christians Sports International,  Young Life, Youth for Christ, etc.

What does it look like?

Every campus ministry looks different.  Some student leaders are confident and ready to share their testimony, a message or bible study while others prefer to invite local church and para church leaders to share.  Some campuses rotate from students to adult leaders every other week.  Other campuses will have a rotation of student message, small groups, guest speaker, adult leader, etc.

Some campuses like to play a game or crowd breaker every week, some once per month.

Almost every club I have been a part of has FREE PIZZA every week!  On occasion, there will be a school that does not permit a meal but allows you to bring a snack.

Message. Game. Food.  Those are the key essentials…

When does it happen?

Most clubs meet once per week during lunch.  For example, CSI Club Challenge meets up every Wednesday at lunch at Helix High School.

Where does it take place?

Normally campus ministry happens in a classroom or gym.  Typically I recommend to start in a classroom and grow into a gym.

Why is it needed?

There are lost people there.  Students need Jesus and have so many distractions.  Students can reach their peers.  There are so many students who will never check out a church for many reasons… but they are open to checking out a campus ministry during a lunch break, especially when food is provided.

How is it possible?

God. Prayer. Dream Team.

God orchestrates it all.

Prayer for God to open doors for specific schools.

We build a Dream Team for this work to stay for the long haul. A Dream Team consists of Student Leaders, Teacher/Coach Advisor to open a classroom or gym, Church Partnership, Para Church leader, Parent Booster.

*Parent booster is not mandatory but a goal and something that I am personally work on. I highly encourage and think this will be very beneficial!

Below are pictures from one of our campus ministries called CSI Club Challenge.  At CSI Club Challenge, we Challenge students to Know and Grow in Christ. We started with 13 students our 1st day and had a special event in the gym with over 100 students in less than 4 months.  We have seen over 70 professions of Faith in Christ at this school and are working diligently on how we can better follow up.
